I love to try out products and give my opinions about them. And I like to share that opinion with others, as well as coupons I receive from BzzAgent to help spread the "bzz."
Today I saw a new product being offered for review: the new Kindle from Amazon. Very cool! I would love to try it out... I have a Sony e-reader, which I do love, but I am always game to try something new.
I'll be glad to share an opinion on a Kindle!!
Here's a link to BzzAgent -- check it out! I have so much to learn... the crafting is the easy part, thank goodness!
I have searched for a long time, trying to find an online venue for my things that made me feel comfortable. Etsy didn't do it for me, and I wondered about just having a website of my own, but again, it wasn't right.
When I stumbled upon ArtFire, it seemed like this one might be the one for me. I hope I'm right!
I have a few things ready for sale, but I want to make sure I know what I'm doing re: shipping, returns, etc etc etc. I love to make things, and I pour my soul into everything I do, so it has to be right.
My youngest son, an unschooler (I've always disliked that term -- just sounds negative), is eager to help, and we are also going to try out our first christmas Craft Sale as vendors. Wonderful stuff -- can't wait!
Now, to sort through my fabrics, and try to pare down my list of things to make, lol.

Light at the end of the tunnel

I think I've finally figured it out -- the business, that is. Something online to start with, and I am using a couple of sites I like to guide me...
Hubby and daughter will help me with layout and design, I am the creator of all the stuff to be sold, and I'm still figuring packaging and shipping. I hate the wastefulness of ordinary shipping, and I want to send my things in re-usable containers. Needs more thought...

So far, these are the things I will be selling:

Women's Clothing: skirts, tunics, crazy-quilt coats, aprons, etc etc the list will always change and grow.

Children's Clothing: probably smaller matching versions of the women's things.

Homewares: cushions, quilts, throws, wall-hangings, stars, etc. Again, always changing and growing, depending on the season and my whims!

Bags: Knitting bags, handbags, shopping bags... too many ideas to list, wait and see what's posted!

Of course, the record purses...

Jewellery: crocheted/beaded necklaces, bracelets, earrings... Knitted accessories... ??

Handmade paper cards: I love making paper! These cards make a gift even more special...

Dolls, bears made of cloth. Kind of like the Waldorf dolls...

Christening ensembles: gowns, rompers, long coats, bonnets, slippers. All natural fibres, all hand-done. French seams, etc. Hand-embroidered. I'm like a broken record on this...! I have searched online, and have been appalled at the poor quality offered by some... that's just not my style.

First Communion: gowns, dresses, veils, bags (to hold your beads and bible), rosary beads (I actually enjoy making them, and say the prayers while I do it... very peaceful!)

As you can see, it is going to take a long time for this to evolve, but at least I have a more clear vision of what I want, and I am very excited about it! My own business, creating things I love at my own pace, in my own space... no middleman... but a weekly goal to post pictures of the latest creations for sale! Wow... Awesome.

Stay tuned!

2 Days with Poppy

We saw an opportunity we couldn't resist: "Australian Shepherd puppy, 7 months old, female, FREE to a good home."

We have been carefully tiptoeing around the emptiness we all feel since Daisy died (May '09) and have wondered if we could ever have another dog. No one could replace Daisy, but we love dogs, and hoped to find another who needed us as much as we need her!

DH and I went out to have a look at Poppy, and she was so cute. Very lively (we like that) and very loving (she melted at our feet for immediate belly-rubs) and we fell in love. But I could sense that the owners were really not settled on giving her up... they felt that they had to (Poppy was chasing the horses on the farm, and the horses weren't happy!) but they loved her, and it was difficult.

Well, we took her home, surprised the kids...... and the cat (Katie). Poppy thought Katie was a snack, and decided to chase her all over the house, with Katie finally clinging for dear life to the top of the window in my sewing room! Poor Katie...

She then decided the safest spot was the back of our bedroom closet... and stayed there for 2 days, refusing to eat or drink or go to the litter box. We even moved all of her things upstairs, and gated the bottom of the stairs so Poppy couldn't go up, but she was terrified. Uh oh.

Meanwhile, Poppy was getting lots of love and attention, having a great time, and it was interesting having a dog in the house again. But, what about Katie? She was used to our old Daisy-dog, and I was getting worried.

Finally, I asked hubby what he thought, and he agreed this was probably not going to work. He called Poppy's former owners, and asked if we could bring her back (I hated doing that, but, had a feeling....). Sure enough, they were happy to have her back!

They had a little break from her, and had time to realise they really needed that dog... she was part of their family. And Poppy had a 2-day adventure away from home, complete with gifts (I made her a denim bandanna with "Poppy" embroidered on the front) and treats! We were able to see that we are not ready for a new dog... yet...

And Katie is now back to her normal self, and loving her space again.

My migraine from the whole weekend is almost gone... ;-)

First day of blogging... here goes nothing!

This is the very early stage of what I hope will become a space for many things: ranting, raving, planning, reviewing, regretting, celebrating... who knows what else?

My cat, Katie-Mae, has her paw on my right shoulder, and I'll take that as a good sign -- she's telling me to keep going!
